استضاف الاتحاد العام لنقابات عمال الأردن، في مقره بالعاصمة عمّان، اجتماعاً مع معالي الدكتورة رانيا المشاط وكيل االأمين العام للأمم المتحدة والأمينة التنفيذية للجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا (الإسكوا)، وبمشاركة وفد من منظمة العمل الدولية، وذلك لبحث سبل تعزيز التعاون في مجالات العمل اللائق، والإدماج الاجتماعي، والمساواة بين الجنسين، ودعم دور الحركة النقابية في مواجهة تحديات سوق العمل وتعزيز التنمية المستدامة.
واستهل الاجتماع بكلمة ترحيبية ألقاها نائب رئيس الاتحاد العام لنقابات عمال الأردن، السيد خالد أبو مرجوب، أكد فيها حرص الاتحاد على توسيع شراكاته مع المنظمات الدولية والجهات الوطنية بما يسهم في تعزيز حقوق العمال، وترسيخ مبادئ الحوار الاجتماعي، وتطوير السياسات والتشريعات التي تواكب المتغيرات الاقتصادية وسوق العمل.
من جانبها، أكدت السيدة أمل موافي، الأخصائية الأولى في سياسات التوظيف ومنسقة برنامج منظمة العمل الدولية في الأردن، أهمية الشراكة الاستراتيجية التي تجمع المنظمة بالاتحاد العام، مشيرة إلى استمرار التعاون في تنفيذ البرامج والمبادرات الهادفة إلى تعزيز العدالة الاجتماعية، وتحسين ظروف العمل، وتمكين النقابات العمالية من أداء دورها في الدفاع عن حقوق العمال والعاملات.
وتضمن الاجتماع استعراضاً موجزاً لمسيرة التعاون بين منظمة العمل الدولية والاتحاد العام لنقابات عمال الأردن، وما أثمرته هذه الشراكة من مبادرات وأنشطة هدفت إلى بناء قدرات الحركة النقابية وتعزيز مشاركتها في صياغة السياسات المتعلقة بعالم العمل.
كما ناقش المشاركون عدداً من القضايا ذات الأولوية، وفي مقدمتها دور النقابات العمالية في تعزيز المساواة بين الجنسين وإدماج الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة في سوق العمل، إلى جانب دعم أجندة الإصلاحات التشريعية من خلال الحوار الثلاثي، ومواكبة التحولات الرقمية في عالم العمل، بما في ذلك العقود الإلكترونية الرقمية، وتعزيز سياسات الأجور بما يكفل حماية حقوق العمال وتحقيق العدالة والمساواة.
وتناول الاجتماع كذلك أهمية تطوير اقتصاد الرعاية بوصفه أحد القطاعات الواعدة التي تسهم في توفير فرص العمل اللائق، مع التركيز على حماية حقوق العاملين والعاملات في هذا القطاع، بمن فيهم العاملون في الخدمة المنزلية والأشخاص ذوو الإعاقة، إضافة إلى التأكيد على أهمية تعزيز مشاركة المرأة في مواقع القيادة النقابية، وتمكينها من القيام بدور فاعل في مجالات المناصرة وصنع القرار والحوار الاجتماعي.
وفي ختام الاجتماع، أكد الجانبان أهمية مواصلة التعاون والتنسيق المشترك لتعزيز بيئة عمل أكثر شمولاً وإنصافاً، وترسيخ مبادئ العمل اللائق والعدالة الاجتماعية، بما ينسجم مع أولويات التنمية الوطنية وأهداف التنمية المستدامة.

The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions Discusses Ways to Promote Decent Work, Social Inclusion, and Gender Equality with H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat
Amman – The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) hosted a meeting at its headquarters in Amman with H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), with the participation of a delegation from the International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in the areas of decent work, social inclusion, gender equality, and supporting the role of the trade union movement in addressing labour market challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The meeting opened with welcoming remarks by Mr. Khaled Abu Marjoub, Vice President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, who emphasized the Federation’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with international organizations and national stakeholders in order to strengthen workers’ rights, reinforce the principles of social dialogue, and advance policies and legislation that respond to evolving economic conditions and labour market developments.
For her part, Dr. Amal Mowafy, Senior Employment Policy Specialist and ILO Country Coordinator in Jordan, highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the ILO and the Federation, noting the continued cooperation in implementing programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting social justice, improving working conditions, and strengthening the capacity of trade unions to effectively defend the rights of both women and men workers.
The meeting also included a brief review of the longstanding cooperation between the International Labour Organization and the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, highlighting the various initiatives and activities undertaken through this partnership to build the capacity of the trade union movement and enhance its participation in shaping labour-related policies.
Participants discussed a number of priority issues, foremost among them the role of trade unions in promoting gender equality and the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labour market. Discussions also covered support for the legislative reform agenda through tripartite social dialogue, adapting to digital transformations in the world of work, including digital employment contracts, and strengthening wage policies to ensure the protection of workers’ rights while promoting fairness and equality.
The meeting further addressed the importance of developing the care economy as one of the promising sectors capable of creating decent work opportunities, with particular emphasis on protecting the rights of workers in this sector, including domestic workers and persons with disabilities. Participants also reaffirmed the importance of enhancing women’s participation in trade union leadership positions and empowering them to play an active role in advocacy, decision-making, and social dialogue.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of continuing their cooperation and coordination to promote a more inclusive and equitable world of work and to advance the principles of decent work and social justice in line with Jordan’s national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals .
